We would all like to think a pool is care free but that could not be further from the truth! One of the most crucial variables to a beautiful finish is water chemistry. Austin Pool Plastering recommends following the National Plaster Councils recommendation for all finish start ups(see below).
Please reach us at sales@austinplaster.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
While this question varies per color and material, most pool plaster installers recommend waiting 28 days to install your pool cleaner.
Your swimming pools first 28 days are crucial to a healthy plaster, but it is okay to enjoy your pool a few days after plaster! However, we do recommend checking chemistry regularly and especially after use, adjusting when necessary. A balanced chemistry keeps the plaster spot free and smoother in texture. Avoid contact surface with sharp objects and abrasives.
No, we recommend waiting at least 28 days to allow the plaster to cure prior to using your heater.
No, brushing is highly recommended to remove any plaster dust from the surface of the pool and into suspension. It is recommended to brush at least once a day for the first 28 days.
Water chemistry is key! We recommend following the National Plaster Councils procedures for start up and regular balancing/maintenance throughout the life of the plaster. Use the Langelier saturation index otherwise known as LSI to balance water.
We STRONGLY recommend NOT shutting off the water at any point during the filling process. If needed, slow the filling process overnight. If the hose is shut off and left off for a period of time, unsightly hydration lines may occur.
It is highly recommended to use a white rag tied to the hose bib and the hose placed at the deep point. If its not filled from the deepest point you will have running water on the plaster. This causes different cure rates for the plaster and causes discolorations which are very hard to remove. When the pool is filled from the bottom up you get a more even fill and hydration which results in an even finish.
We recommend waiting until most the plaster dust is waiting to vacuum your pool manually. When vacuuming please be sure to use a vinyl head vacuum (brushes and no wheels) for the first few weeks.
